Should I let my son do this?

He wants to buy a Honda S2000 with 73,000 miles for $12,500 with his own money. I'm ok with it but I advise him not to. He wants to buy it now knowing how hard it is to come across a 2001 With that low of miles in great condition witch i believe is true. This will be his first car and he is a responsible driver but should I let him buy it? Part of me says yes and the other half no.

15 year old boys don't need a car

No, Scott you are only 15 and that is too young to have a car.

Honestly NO. His insurance rates are going to be through the roof, he's under age, first time driver, and it's a sports car. Second off my first car was a 2001 grand am for 3,500 with 96k miles. Then when I was 20, I decided to buy a fully loaded 2009 mazda 6 i grand touring with 72k miles for $12,500 as well. Huge difference, he could get something newer for that price that even offers an extended warranty. The miles are great, yeah but not a reason to waste his money like that. Plus insurance rates…

If you think he is able to take care of it and be able to pay for it let him get it. Some vehicles are more expensive to repair you might want to look into how much tires, brakes and oil changes are for that car before he goes ahead and buys it.

Buy a Toyota camry. Need no repair and lasts for ever! Had 2 myself. And both "died" at 650000 KM.

  • I let my car sit for 3 months and the battery died. I tried to jump it but it would start? I Tried jumping my car by connecting the jumper cable plugs to it for like 1 min and few seconds… Should I keep the jumper cables in longer or do I just need to buy a new battery. I drive a honda civc 2008. *Wouldn't
  • What kind of car should I buy my college-age son? I was reading an article that the Honda Civic and Buick LeSabre would great for kids going to school. But I was talking to our neighbor and she bought her son an old BMW, like 2011, and her son didn't talk to her for weeks. I want my kid to have a good time at college and not be embarrassed, but the article said these two cars were really good for teenagers. I was kinda iffy when I read about the Honda and then they said the Buick, so this may be made up or something.
  • My wife and son had a car accident? My wife and son got hit from the back at a stop, the one who hit from the back was blamed for the accident. My wife is 38 and son 16 they both went to therapy for 6 weeks for back pain but still don't know the bill price. We have a lawyer handling the case were also suppose to receive the money to fix our car the estimate was $1800 ( 08 Honda Civic hybrid ) I was wondering how much money would they be able to recover?
  • My son wants a compact car? My son wants a little Honda Civic or something of that matter. The problem here is all of the guys in my family drove lifted trucks and like mud bogging and using their trucks for work. I'm not sure if he plans on working like all of us or not but I'm wondering if I should get him what he wants or just buy him a truck and he will have to get over it.
