New window regulator won't move?

I just bought a used 97 Honda Civic that drives perfectly. The driver s side window doesn't move however. I opened up the door and found that the window regulator was broken (the cable inside had snapped.) I bought a brand new regulator and when I plug it in and press the window switch, the regulator doesn't move at all. What can the problem be? I know that the switch is getting power because the old window motor turns when plugged in.

I know that window motors on newer cars need to be initialized. Is this the case for my 97 civic as well?

No

Initialization is only for the auto drop feature when opening the door. Run a power and ground wire from the battery directly ti the window motor to see if the motor works. Reverse the wires for the opposite direction. If it works you have a harness connector problem or a broken wire in the drivers side wiring harness by the door hinges. You need to slice open the harness and look for broken wires and tug on each wire to see if it stretches. The copper inside the insulation can break and not show until you do the stretch test.

  • Do you have to sell your motorcycle if you plan to move from Colorado to New York? I have a Honda CB500F motorcycle that I love but it is too far to drive. If I decide take it with me, I have to drive twice since I have a car too. If you were me, would you sell the motorcycle before you leave or drive twice?

  • Passenger side window won't go up after radio stolen? Recently my car was stolen about a week later we found the car and the only thing really missing was the radio which had been stolen. The window of the passenger side was also all the way down. Now, it won't go back up. Any ideas what could happened or how to fix it? I'm thinking it had something to do with the stolen radio and maybe a cable or something getting disconnected? The car is a 1996 Honda Civic with power windows. Checked the fuses and they are good.
