What can be the best way to fix CEL?
I have a honda civic 2005 automatic. I'm trying to fix it to pass the smog test but the CEL comes on. I took it to Autozone to see what code it is. It turned out to be P0741. I looked it up and it has to do with torque converter. Now, a friend offered to take my car to his mechanic and the guy said it has to replace 3 sensors. I don't know what to believe. The car works perfectly fine.
I'd try having the codes erased and drive the car long enough to complete the readiness tests. Then go pass the emissions test.
The the P0741 probably takes 3 key cycles to set the code and CEL back on so look up how to complete readiness tests and follow the drive cycle to complete the tests without turning the car off. Once the readiness tests are complete go straight in for emission testing as they will turn the car off to make sure the CEL works and then pass you. Once you hit 3 key cycles the CEL will probably come back on.
Reset the codes, drive around for 50 miles and all speeds, stopping and shutting the car down every 5 miles. If the CEL comes back on. See a mechanic who troubleshoots a CEL. If the CEL does not come back, go straight to the smog station and check if your car will pass the monitors and smog check.
- Honda b18 CEL on and revs bounce? I was in the middle of changing my fan switch when Autozone gave me the wrong one. I broke the original I had during the process and decided to just put it back in with the plastic broken, add some radiator fluid, and call it a day. When I turned the car on it took a few seconds, and after it started the CEL light is on and the revs bounce by about 300? What's the issue?
- How can i fix this Honda Dio? Can i fix it by my own? I wanted to check the front brakes, si i started and raced it holding the front brakes alone. My fingers sliped from the break and I crashed my Dio straight to the wall. Reffer the picture.
- What's the best way to start removing paint on a car? So I just bought a Honda civic (used off crag's list) and I want to paint it flat green, no gloss or anything. I want to (at least try) to do it on my own, Not sure if ill paint it myself but I want to strip the paint and lay the primer. However I'm not sure what's the best way to start. And what's faster to remove the paint and clear coat.
- Cheapest way to fix rusted quarter panels? What are the cheapest, but still look good "do it yourself", ways to fix a hole and rust on a qrt panel on a 1989 honda crx. The one hole on the passenger side is the size of a softball and the other is maybe the size of 2 quarters. Any ideas? The color is red and everywhere is seems to be pretty solid.
