Try actually reading the owner's manual. It will tell you what kind of oil you should use.
A very low viscosity oil 0W20 is requires by Honda for your Hybrid vehicle. I have the same car and in the Owner's manual, page 189 and 190 will show and tell you how.
If you can't locate the owner manual. Go to this site and download free manuals for your Civic Hybrid and yes: It's Honda site and it's free:

Honda recommends SAE 0W-20 weight oil. You can't buy this weight in a conventional oil and it can only be purchased in a Synthetic. Any major brand of synthetic is fine. Do not use any other weight of oil.

Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
