How much should a first vehicle be?

I have had my own vehicle for awhile now and i take pretty good care of it. I've only hit a deer (which i couldnt avoid) and i haven't dented or scratched it atleast to my knowledge. My parents lent me this car as it wasn't being used and now my moms lease is almost up and i'm looking for a new car since she is going to be taking the vehicle they gave me back.

I have always been a saver and have around 6.5 grand saved up. I work full time making around 300-400 dollars a week but spend 100 dollars per week on just gas (truck). I'm very picky about the vehicle i want. I'm eye balling the 2004-2008 Acura TL's because i love how they look and they get better MPG's then my vehicle does. I also know they are honda's so to speak which i have herd is very reliable and will last a long time with regular maintenance.

I want to take a loan out for a Acura TL but also don't know if this is a good idea. I KNOW i would be able to make the payments and have no worries but the Acuras i can find are around 8-10 grand with around 140k miles on them.

Like i said i'm very picky about the car i get and a car means alot to me since i have a huge passion for cars.

Added (1). I'm not sure what i'm asking. I guess is this too unreasonable to purchase at my age?

I don't pay for anything except gas and oil changes (i'm lucky)

My first car was a 1978 Grand Marquis that was 18 years old when I got it. It was my 16th birthday present, so it was free. It still runs, and I still have it, but I've replaced it on daily driver duty with a 1996 T-Bird.

Pay cash for a decent car. For $6500, you can find a fun, reliable car, and not having a car note hanging over your head for the next three years.

I wouldn't want my son to spend 8-10K on a first car. You can get something drivable for 5-6K and save the rest for college.

Mine was less than 1000

Kyle i live in deer country, yet have never hit a deer. Slow down. You think your picky? I looked for roughly 6 months before i found this redneck jewel. My last 5.0 i watched for 7 yrs before pulling the trigger(stored for over a decade lol) and the 5.0 before that took me 90 days to find.
if it makes you happy, by all means buy it, but don't forget to throw a few bucks to your folks. Without their generous loan you wouldnt have 2 slim nickels saved
