Is car sales a bad job?

I have an interview at a big Honda dealership on Monday. I know they give us 2 days off. We have 1 day off during the week, and every Sunday off. I'm not sure how the pay plan works. But I know it's not just Commission. Should I go for it?

Sales is a great profession if you have the right stuff. If the dealership is reputable and doesn't screw people over and you can get enthusiastic about the job the experience can open doors for you.

No. Go for it

If you are interested in cars and have some knowledge, you may find you really enjoy it. I don't think you're bound for life if you take the job. Sometimes you just have to give it a try to see if it's a good fit for you.

I would go for it, i heard you can make good money in sales

It's not just commission, but the commission is where you make most of your money. Car sales can be challenging. But, if you're real good with talking to all forms of folks, you should do decent in the business. There's a lot to understand on the psyche of the potential buyer: Some are open to talk, some are not at all, some are procrastinators, some are go-getters… There are different ways to approach and succeed in selling to all of them. You will learn it if you are serious about the job. You can make a good living out of it… But, most is up to you.

Plenty of people make a living being a car salesman. Especially if there's an unlimited commission cap, you could make a lot of money. Go for it, try it for a year, and if it doesn't work, you'll have some money saved up until you get another job.

As long as you are OK with the system most dealers have in place where the worst sales person each month gets fired. Though in most cases they give a new person 3 months or so to get into the groove. You need to see if they have such a system. This has nothing to do with Honda. It is something done by the dealerships.
