Am I ready for a Honda Shadow 750?
I've taken the motorcycle safety class and the only other experience on a motorcycle I have had was on my uncle's harley wide glide, which i could handle except for taking off from stop signs. I'm a beginner, but i feel like my only problem is clutch control and turning from a stopped position. So i thought a smaller bike would be better. My question is, do you think the Honda Shadow 750 would be a good bike for me?
No bruh
Wish to just cruise straight down the road? Buy a big heavy bike.
Wish to LEARN HOW to ride a motorcycle properly? Buy the smallest bike and learn HOW TO ride.
You are right that smaller is better at this point.
I think maybe you should go smaller still.
ANY skill you learn will be learned easier on a smaller bike AND will transfer to a larger one.
Side note: A number of years ago, my brother-in-law started on a Honda ACE.
Within two weeks he was known as "Crash".
Within two months he no longer rode.
I started on a 360, kept under 500cc for many years, moved to a 750, then the HD (1450).
Thats a pretty heavy bike to get into trouble with starting out. I would definitely practice for quite awhile in an empty parking lot or quiet street with plenty of space before venturing out into the jungle…
You sound like you are strong enough to hold the bike upright, pick it up off the ground if you fall over, but you lack experience in riding and clutch control, buy your 750, but also get a 250 endure, and ride it to the ground, you control the don't let the bike control you, you control the bike
For sure you are ready for a shadow. These bikes are reliable, low seat height ready and more importantly, fairly low powered, no matter what Honda says. As you seem to be a keen starter, my advise to you would be to buy a good second hand one, for once you got the gist of it, a more powerful bike will beckon and you won't lose as much money on the change-over.
welcome to motorcycling

- Would a Honda Shadow Phantom 750 be a begginer motorcycle? OK. I'm 16 years old I've bought all the nessecary gear I got that idea of watching cyclecruza's squid videos and didn't want that to happen to me. Well because I shouldn't look up to my dad who rides a Harley 1200 who only wears a helment a t shirt and just jeans. I know not to go over the speed limit but all I need to know if thus good first bike.
- What is the max speed in each gear for a 2009 Honda Shadow Spirit 750? I can't find any details, even from Honda, what the maximum speed in MPH is for each of the 5 gear ratios on my 750 Shadow. Also, what is the engine redline? No factory tach and no details on what the engine is capable of turning.
- Is a honda shadow 750 too much bike for a beginner? I'm a pretty big guy, and they felt comfortable at the dealerships.dealerships. I'm seeing used ones selling for around 2500-3500 i great shape.3000 is about my budget, and I don't have unlimited money, I know people say to start on a 250 and sell it, but I don't really have the funds, and the 250s are about the same money as a shadow 750. I just wanna know if this bike would be an appropriate beginner
- I have a 750 honda shadow american classic was out on a ride stopped to get gas got back on bike and nothing? The 750 Honda would not start the head lights are not coming on but the turn signal work and the horn had battery charged. Any ideas please this is a motor bike not a car
