How to get dead motorcycle into pickup truck?

My Honda Shadow broke down on the interstate on a flat surface on the median. Costs a ton to tow it and I just need to get it into my truck and I have a motorcycle ramp. This things heavy. Any ideas getting it in? The motorcycle ramp is a little steep so even with 3 people I think it'd be too heavy to push in. Any ideas? Has anyone ever used a come-along? They only have 6 feet of cable so would you need 2 and then winch it in?

Longer ramp/board or more than three people.

Use a ramp with a winch and chains or cables.

3 people can push it up the ramp. No problem unless they are 7 year olds

A length of rope and a pulley or a come-along will provide enough power to winch it up if the people have trouble pushing.

Put a floor jack under the end of the ramp, roll the bike onto the ramp and block the rear wheel and level the ramp with the jack and let it back down on some cinder blocks for stability.

The ratchet straps used for tie downs can also be used to winch it up.
Pain in the but what with having to stop, unwind and get a new bite, but it does work.

I have had mine for about 30 years. Have ripped roots out of the ground, moved a working Cisco 7500 Router down a equipment rack, have pulled a motorcycle onto a trailer.

Use the starter motor and 1st gear to power it up the ramp with a push too

Couple of pulleys, a length of rope, one assistant each side to stop it toppling over. Pulleys are very efficient force multipliers.

Get some rope & a boy scout; he'll show you how to do it.
Otherwise as someone else has suggested a rachet strap. Two people steady the bike & one uses the brake to hold it while you reset the strap.

  • What type of truck should I get for my first? I'm 16 and live in Southern California. In and my parents want to get me a truck. My family is GM loyal because of what they did in WW2 for this country. I'm looking for like a Silverado or sierra. But I'm concerned about the insurance. Any suggestions. (Absolutely no Toyota, Honda or any other foreign pieces of junk.) Thank you.
  • Types of suv's that can do what a pickup can? I'm selling my truck to get an suv. I don't use the truck alot, but I still use it enough where I would like a suv that can do double duty when I need it to. I'm looking at older suv's with a top budget of $7,000. My list includes the Xterra, 4runner, pilot, murano, and even a Honda Element. My criteria is that the suv's seats fold flat and can fit appliances, like a fridge or washing machine.
  • My motorcycle won't move out of neutral and the battery is dead? So I didn't have gas and killed the battery trying to start it so when I press the button no click and the kill switch is off so I tried to roll it down my driveway and pop the clutch but now it won't move from neutral it's a 2003 Honda shadow ace 750
  • Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery? I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
