Will honda and yamaha ever make a motorcycle to compete with the Hayabusa and ZX-14R?
The most powerful Yamaha/Honda motorcycles are the Yamaha R1 and the Cbr-1000rr. Will they ever make a bike 1300 - 1400 cc bike to compete with the Suzuki Hayabusa (1300cc) or the Zx14 (1400cc)?
I agree with one of the other posters, the market isn't huge for them, imo they fill a small sector of the buying public that is stuck on wanting the fastest machine with no thought for practicality. I could have bought one when i was in the market for a large streetbike. I didn't like the size, i didn't like the gas mileage, and i didn't like the ergos. You can play fastest a couple of days a month and enjoy that fine. I'll be enjoying my long 100's of mile trips thank you. But you never know. Yami or honda may surprise everyone and throw something out there to steal the market sector it can happen…
No I highly doubt they will. The market for these bikes is not huge and is already owned by suzi and kwaka. For honda and yami to design and produce these bikes is to costly for the amount they would sell. As for candid chris answer it is not true both the busa and zx14 are highly reliable bikes and are well trusted among tourers who want a fast ride world wide. I would trust one of these bikes to ride around on aus or usa round trip over any of the 1000rr. So is candid chris saying a cbr1000rr is not made for speed/power? The honda is just the slightly more reliable one. Years ago like over 15 hondas where the most reliable and the reputation has staued with them. There not much if any more reliable then any of the others any more.
Honda made the first one of those, called the Blackbird in Europe and the CBR - XX here in the states. It's no longer made.
Yamaha has its V-Max.
There just isn't a very big market for those bikes. Hence the long development time between new models for even the Hayabusa and ZX-14.
Honda and Yamaha proved themselves quite well more than 30 years ago with the legendary Honda V-65 Saber and Magna, and the Yam XS 1100. These bikes were completely INSANE; still are if you can find a well preserved example. They would go as fast as any human had the courage to go. The 'busa and ZX exceed them ONLY by SMALL numbers, and get the attention because such a large percentage of riders either have no memory or weren't even born when those bikes were warping time and throwing up molten asphalt rooster tails.
They don't need to, win races on sunday sell bikes on monday. Honda sells more bikes period end o story
In Track races the Yamaha and Honda have produced more winners. The Hayabusa and zx-14 don't corner well.
Maybe but probably not.
The Busa and the ZX are built for top-end speed, Honda and Yamaha build their bikes for reliability and it's difficult to have both in one machine.
- What is the most reliable car you've ever owned and how many miles did you put on it? Mine was Honda Passport with 250,000 miles bought brand new. Yeah I know it was rebadged Isuzu Rodeo but it was surprisingly reliable with no major problems.
- Why has my Honda VTX 1300 Motorcycle been overheating ever since I laid it down? I changed the coolant, cleaned the air filter and got a new thermostat but still over heats if I'm sitting at every red light. Will start up after it cools down but always over heats when I idle too long. Any ideas?
- Which motorcycle this is? (ex. Honda, kawasaki, yamaha, etc.) And series as well (ex. Cbr, ninja, etc.)? Thank you very much! The reason I'm asking is because it is not physically in my possession… Otherwise I obviously would have checked the bike itself.
- If one or two ISP's ban a site and raise prices, can a new one rise up and compete? Why? Why not? What about Honda/Toyota? Or ' MCI & Sprint muscling AT&T aside? Anyone remember Nucor Steel? Each of those took advantage of very different situations, each with seemingly impossible odds. Thing is, they were all LEGALLY allowed to compete. How about here?
