Well it will vary between countries a bit. However, from what I have seen most Honda models all have CVT transmissions now in most countries. Many other brands are also the same.
4 cylinder Honda's use the CVT but V6 Honda's still use the 5 speed A/T. I have a 2013 Accord with the CVT and I love it. Flawless after 30,000 miles of driving.
CVT is nothing new to Honda. They've been selling they've been selling them on the Civic HX since 1996. They feel like a manual with a slipping clutch under acceleration. As with any engine peak power is achieved on at certain RPMs. On conventional transmissions, that means it has to pick up stem to reach max powerm then whne tranny shifts, it has to build up again to max power. Hit the gas with CVT, and you can be accelerating and be in your max power range at all times. Also, since CVT has an infinite number of gears, fuel economy is usually better too.
- Which CVT transmissions use a clutch and which uses a torque converter? Lineartronic CVT Honda CVT Xtronic CVT etc What I know is that Subaru s CVT uses a clutch while Nissan CVT uses a torque converter am I right?
- Should I paint over a bad tear in my bumper, or order a new one and have the mechanics install it then have them paint it? I recently bought a used 1997 Honda Prelude. It's red and badly sun faded and has a bad tear on the rear bumper. I was wondering whether I should just have it painted over or order a whole new bumper and have the people at the shop install it and paint it for me. Any suggestions?
- Is it true what they say about CVT transmissions? They say that CVT is noisy, unreliable, expensive to fix and just plain weird like slipping feeling and no shift points. I'm thinking about buying a Honda CR-V or Nissan Murano both equipped with CVT but probably wouldn't if above are true.
- Do you think CVT transmission is bad? I'm truly in love with the 2017 Honda CR-V except for the CVT. I've heard so many horror stories about it that I may buy another car because of it. So do you think CVT is bad or am I worried for nothing?
