Can I reference a park, or a certain car brand in my novel?

I'm writing a book where the charceter is on her way to a certain park, in Dana Point, and she receives an amber alert referring to a certain car type. My question is if I can name the park and car type, as actual names that exist in real life? For example I'd want to use Herritage Park, and Honda Odyssey, but I don't know if I can.

Absolutely. There are no restrictions on the use of either in a literary work. Quite common in fact.

Sure

The only real reason to avoid rel life landmarks is that someone could in theory sue you claiming you'd slandered them.

For instance, if the protagonist of your novel is a science teacher who molests children and drives a Gremlin and lives near Heritage Park, you might find yourself being sued by Gremlin-owning science teacher who lives near Heritage Park.

As for brand names. You're covered as long you don't slander the product in a specific way, such as claiming that the Honda Odyssey is notorious for exploding when hit from behind. You can have your pedo drive one, as obviously pedos drive cars and the Honda Odyssey exists in the real world.

Have you not read a book lately?

Good grief. Questions such as these tell me the writer is not a reader and likely hasn't picked up a book in a long time.

There are probably hundreds of published stories involving NYC's Central Park, not to mention a song about California's MacArthur Park. And unless you say don't buy Odysseys because people will say you are a child molester, you are safe

There's 10 of them.Talked to a honda dealer and they said its just called washer bolts but cost $75.+ tax through them. When i search washer bolts even adding engine, head, cylinder head etc. Still find nothing. Anyone know where or how to find them?
  • Looking for a certain bike? Long story short, I love the CB750. I find those 4 into 2 exhaust system fine as hell and like the standard style, but I'm a small guy who can't confidently reach the ground on it. Yet, I'm finding my CB250 to be too small. Now it doesn't have to be Honda, but are there any under 20 year old bikes like the CB750 but smaller? Or even an American equivalent to the CB400SF? TLDR: Looking for Inline 4 non crotch rocket for a short fella.
  • Would a bad input shaft bearing noise present during certain rpms while jacked up? My honda civic makes a loud rattle during certain rpms (2000+rpm) in 1st and 2nd gear, it does have a bad isb but the rattle i'm not %100 if it is related to the isb. Should the rattle/grind also be evident if the car is jacked up if it had to do with the isb?
