Should I buy this used car?

My buddy just paid off his Honda 09 EX with 127 thousand miles on it and is willing to sell it to me for 5,500. He let me take it on an hour long test drive and it ran absolutely fine, he changes the oil regularly and I know for fact he drives easy and takes it the best mechanic in town. I currently own a 92 Oldsmobile 88 with 131 thousand miles on it. It runs fine now and I just got done putting 700 on it (new fuel tank and CV shaft and Crankshaft sensor)… One of the biggest uncertainties in this for me though is that I'm 25 years old with no credit, I live with my parents and my 13,000$ is the only thing I have going for me financially and I'm afraid to shrink that down. What would you do?

Can someone paint my car?

Its a 97 honda, i'm in southern CA. It doesn't need a MASSIVE paint job but yeah just want to make it look better, so if you or you know someone please LET ME KNOW. Also if they can fix small dents it would help too. Please

Are current Hondas really as reliable as people say they are?

I'm fully aware that Hondas from the 80s have a strong reputation when it comes to durability and reliability. But how reliable are current Hondas? I heard some Honda owners say their transmissions had to be replaced before 100k miles and others have said that all the electronics Honda is putting on the cars is lowering reliability as well.

What is the scoop with NEWER hondas (2008 and onward)? Are they pretty much bulletproof like the ones from the 80s or has honda lost its mojo?

Added (1). People always raved about how the old school hondas could last for 300k miles and beyond.
