How to increase my car's performance and throttle response?

I have a 2009 honda accord v-6 automatic and lately it's seemed to have a lackluster throttle response and just decreased performance in general. I was told to replace my air filter and maybe run something called "seafoam" through it… Any other suggestions?

Not alot you can do. Your not starting with much. Throttle response sucks with fuel injection and there's not alot you can do about it. To many confuse horsepower and torque. Many engines can make high horsepower but it is always at a rpm that is seldom ever seen. Torque is what you actually use and high torque come from big inches

What you need depends on the mileage and conditions you drive in. First look at the mfg's recommended maintenance schedule. At about 100k miles you are due for new spark plugs. Nothing says you must wait that long. At 100k consider replacing ignition wires. Use the exact plugs the factory recommends, not some "Ion liquid suspension 12 point center irridium blaster". Exact factory. Replacing air filter is easy. Change auto trans fluid with EXACT Honda fluid or you will ruin your auto trans. Fluid looses it's hydraulic properties over time. Best let a Honda dealer do it as the quickie transmissions shops never have the exact Honda fluid. You can get some Techron fuel system cleaner and add it to your gas in the recommended ratio. [Black long neck bottle cheapest at Walmart].

Replacing the air filter is a part of a basic tune up and should be checked on a regular basis along with spark plugs and such.

GET SMART! Get a MILD motor flush done to remove sludge and varnish and tar before using either MOBIL ONE 0W-30 or ENEOS oil from JAPAN! If you use VALVOLINE expect sludge and tar deposits as it is HIGH in ASH content and can't handle engine heat! FLIP OVER your OIL FILL CAP and see if you detect any fudgy, brown, crusty baked in coatings! YOUR WHOLE ENGINE WILL LOOK LIKE THAT INSIDE IT! I just advised an ACURA owner who has ROD KNOCK NOW from using BAD CHEAP w3ax based oils NOT MADE for OHC engines! Never buy oil by VISCOSITY RATINGS ALONE! Look for JASO< and GL numbers and even SPEC NUMBERS! These days nearly All the best oils are CUSTOM MIXED for different automakers and there's NO universal fluids for ANY CAR< not even COOLANTS! GOOD LUCK! <<USE DENSO IRIDIUM spark plugs to get POWER back and rid engine of SLUDGE deposits that clog up the works! Really!

Without proper diagnosis by a professional mechanic anything anyone says, specially Robert, who has the same answer to all car problems, is a guess. Guessing has never ever repaired a car properly. Knowledge, equipment, discipline. You failed to capitalize the proper names of the brand, Honda, and of the model, Accord. Is it lack of knowledge or lack of discipline as to this issue? Do you wish to be like anyone else? V-6. Also a matter of knowledge "v6" is 100% incorrect, yet, seems every male teen on the land subscribes to bad grammar to be the same as others. The car has an engine designed by engineers and works of specific scientific principles. Air, fuel, electricity, exhaust, cooling, drive system, etc. All must work as designed. If the car is not working satisfactorily, it must be repaired by a mechanic. Just yesterday some kid asked about his car "overheating." The car was fine. His perception of an "overheat" was wrong and not based on knowledge. He had gone through two thermostats and done something else. Totally a waste of time, energy and effort. He did not ask a professional mechanic before doing anything. Big mistake. Go find mechanic and allow a professional make an evaluation. Following that evaluation, proper repairs shall be advised. Get started.
