Honda shadow phantom vs harley davidson street 750?
Which one is more powerful and more reliable
The Shadow competed directly with the Harley Sportster. But this year the Street 750 (and Street 500) have come out to compete more directly--water cooled, 750cc, etc.
The Street 750 only appeared a few weeks ago, so there's not a lot of data on its actual real-world reliability. But traditionally Honda is more reliable than Harley Davidson. The Honda Shadow 750 is probably one of the most popular motorcycles ever made.
As for power, on paper the Harley claims an advantage, but I think in the real world it would be about a toss-up. Cruisers are not about power. On the freeway they would both be 'adequate'.
The Shadow was *never* considered to compete against the Sportster. The Yamaha Bolt was designed to be a clone of the Sportster 883 Iron. The Street was designed to beat the smaller Metric Cruisers.
The Street has more hp, less weight, and has at least the same reliability. On the freeway my Vespa LX150 is "adequate" -- any 250 is all you need and anything more is over kill.
You have to consider the Shadow the most reliable as the HD750 hasn't been out long enough to know anything about reliability, though with liquid cooling and the fact the HD reliability has been improving, there's a very good chance that this will be a good bike.
Shadows have been around for decades. They are a good, solid, inexpensive, reliable bike.
While I ride an HD (now) I'm still a fan of Honda reliability.
The Shadow has been around a long time now, with minimal problems.
HD Street… No data yet… Haha.
I have seen and sat the 500. Had it up to 60mph on the rolling stand.
Result? I wouldn't ride one if given to me. I'd trade it straight up (maybe even add some) for a Honda.
- Would a Honda Shadow Phantom 750 be a begginer motorcycle? OK. I'm 16 years old I've bought all the nessecary gear I got that idea of watching cyclecruza's squid videos and didn't want that to happen to me. Well because I shouldn't look up to my dad who rides a Harley 1200 who only wears a helment a t shirt and just jeans. I know not to go over the speed limit but all I need to know if thus good first bike.
- Why are those Harley Davidson motorcycles very popular among old people? Usually, I see young people riding Honda or Kawasaki kind of motorcycles. But there are many old men who ride Harley Davidson stuff. Why do those young people prefer those fast bikes and old people like those Harley Davidson stuff?
- What is the max speed in each gear for a 2009 Honda Shadow Spirit 750? I can't find any details, even from Honda, what the maximum speed in MPH is for each of the 5 gear ratios on my 750 Shadow. Also, what is the engine redline? No factory tach and no details on what the engine is capable of turning.
- Shadow phantom or street 750? I'm looking to upgrade from a Honda rebel which one do you think is a better overall bike and is safest for a 17 year old thanks guys
