How to remove rear wheel on 1996 honda shadow 1100? - 1

One bolt at a time, Skippy. If you have to ask on THIS forum, then you're probably NOT competent to do the work anyway. Take the bike to a REAL mechanic and pay to have it done right the first time.

Go to www.hondashadow.net for specific Honda Shadow help. Prior to then though, you might want to go online and download the factory… Not a Clymers… Repair manual for that bike. I believe there might also be an electronic copy of that manual available at hondashadow.net.

Jack up the rear of the bike to get the wheel off the ground.

Remove brake activating rod (attaches to #10)
Remove brake stay from brake panel (remove bolt #13)
Remove axle nut.
Loosen axle pinch bolt (right side of swingarm clamping the axle)
Remove the axle and spacers.
Slide the wheel to the right, to free it from the final drive.
Pull the rear wheel back.

Look around on the net to find a honda shadow rider/club site. Ask your questions there.

  • If i make a wire harness will it work with out pulse generator and icu on 85 1100 honda shadow? If i just make direct line from stator to rectifier to starter selonoid and coils will it be fine with out the pulse generator and the 2 icm/icu? I want to eliminate a bunchof stuff on it and i was wondering if that could go as well. It was a mess when i bought it i will figure it out if it must stay but i just need to know if it can go because it will be less of a headache if i can keep it going with out it.
  • Can you put harley wide glide forks on a honda shadow ace 1100? Both forks are 41mm. I'm trying to put a 21" front tire on the bike and I'm weighing my options on what I should do. If the forks can set into the triple tree with not much problem Luke only having to make shims then that's the way to go.
  • Busted my front driver floorboard on 2000 Honda Shadow Aero 1100. What all should I buy? I screwed up and tipped the bike. The right floorboard broke clean off. Can I just replace them with pegs, or do I have to buy the floorboards? Can someone give me some advice on where to buy all the pieces I'll need? It broke off close to the board itself. Also, is this something that I can fix on my own with a good wrench, or should I be taking it in somewhere and having them do it?
  • How to remove the steering wheel to get to the clock spring on my 1993 Honda Accord SE? It seems I damaged my clock spring and need to replace it. I no longer have any cruise control, my horn doesn't work, and my SRS light is on, although the SRS does seem to go off temporarily if I turn my steering wheel all the way to the right, but then I can hear something being stretched if I do (obviously the clock spring). How do I get into the steering wheel so I can replace it?
