New starter, alternator and battery but I still have trouble starting my car?

I have a honda accord, 110,000 miles. The battery, alternator and starter test good but half the time I try to start my car it will not start. It will click multiple times, the i try again and it starts. The clicking happens if I drive about 10 minutes and then turn off the engine and try and start it again 5-10 minutes later.

Clean the battery posts. Replace the battery terminals. Clean the starter solenoid terminals. Check for a good engine and starter ground. Have a garage check for a "voltage drop" on the wire/cable from the battery to the starter solenoid. That wire/cable could be bad or if there's a fusible link on that wire, the fusible link is bad. There's a chance that the ignition switch, start relay or main relay could be bad. That would require checking by a garage.

Spark plugs and ignition coils should be checked.

Sounds like the starter is going bad to me. You can test this by when you hear this clicking find a starter on the motor and tap it with the end of a screwdriver or anything you can tap it with. Preferably something metal that has a little bit of weight to it. Tap the body of the starter not the round thing attached to it and you don't need to hulk smash the thing you just need to tap it a few times. That should stop the clicking noise and it should start.

There's mechanical gear like things inside a starter called a Bendix. That may be what the clicking is. They wear out and sometimes get stuck. Starters are really easy to replace by yourself they're usually only three bolts but they might need to be shimmed as well. You can probably find its location on the motor if you don't already know where it is by searching the internet.

The tapping trick should work for a while but if my guess is right it's on its way out anyway so it's best to replace it as soon as you can.

I would start by doing voltage drop testing on the terminals and battery posts, also the starter. Many things could cause that but thats where i would start.

Probably dirty or loose battery terminals.

Sounds like a bad electrical connection, a bad starter, a bad battery, or a bad switch. We took an alternator to get tested. It tested good. Took it home, installed it in the dark and it was sparking like crazy. Obviously bad. I had one battery that would work part o the time and not sometimes. The top finally blew off and then it was obvious that there was a bad connection inside the battery.

Same thing happened to my Nissan Sunny 2010. Battery, alternator and starter were new but issue was still there. It was dirty terminals. Richard D is right. Try to shake terminals and see if car starts or not because mine started in first attemp after doing this.

Test that you've got 12.6volts to the starter, might be a bad earth connection on your vehicle to fix is quite easy get a thick aftermarket earth cable which can be bought on eBay, connect that to the negative terminal on the battery and bolt it to the engine

Go to a mechanic
