The battery light on my 2000 Honda Accord goes on for a few seconds at a time and then goes off again. It does this several times a day, this despite having just changed the battery, alternator and alternator belt. Why?
My 2006 Honda Accord has two tow hooks in the front located in front of/near both of the front two wheels. Is it safe to jack up the car from there and then put the jack stands on the pinch welds? My jack doesn't reach the solid metal piece running across from one tire to the other.
The jack also does not have a wide enough lift to properly jack up from the pinch welds, they keep slipping/folding when jacking it up from there.

I'm considering changing my 2009 vectra for a 2014/15 insignia. A new car is always a nice idea but one of the big factors is reliability. At 70k how likely is my vectra to let me down? It has been regularly serviced. Changing cars is obviously expensive but you get a new car out of it, I'm not a fan of pouring hundreds or even thousands into repairs on an older car. I know there are probably cars more reliable than the insignia but then that's reflected in the price, a 2014 insignia with 20k miles is a similar price to a 2012 Honda Accord with 50k miles (that bit closer to some major repair?)
So what I'm wondering is how much does reliability decrease with the age of a car? Clearly even a new car can break down but at what age does reliability fall off the edge of a cliff? I assume a 1 and 2 year old car would be similarly reliable, how about 5 and 7 year old for example?

What trans fluid do I need and what kind of oil. I don't know if its the 4 cyl or the v6 yet. (yes I know how to tell but I haven't seen the car yet)
It reached 127 k miles. The owners manual discuss nothing about replacing it but many mechanics talk about replacing it every 30 k miles. The car runs great. It takes little more gas than before. I didn't change transmission yet. I didn't change drive belt yet. Also I didn't do brake fluid, power steering fluid, or coolant change yet. The only I did are oil& filter, air filter, ac filter and brake pad. I will do all these soon. Do you think it is important to change fuel filter?
