Do hybrids have an alternator?

The Honda hybrids (like your 2012 HCH) have an alternator; Toyota hybrids do not. In the Toyota system the 12V charging is derived from the inverter that drives the motor/generators.

They have a "regenerative braking" system that will charge the battery each time one steps on the brakes.
I know they have regenerative braking which charges the batteries and I think they also charge the batteries when going downhill also. However, I would be careful buying a Honda hybrid as a lot of the Honda hybrids use a lot more petrol than the Toyotas do even though they are a hybrid so I recommend you having a look at fuel economy first.

Hi yes of course it has an alternator to keep the engine battery charged up as well as providing power to the motion battery.
- New alternator doesn't fit or it really hard to get in to the bracket, what should I do? I have a Honda Passport 1998, and I replace the alternator for it. I did check the new one and the old one, they are just the same. The problem is when I install new one, it hard to get in to the bracket even I try to wiggle and hammer it by wooden block. Should I grind the new alternator? Or is there any good solution for it?
