What service/maintance should be done on my 92 Honda Civic that s about to reach 300,000 miles on it?
I have a 92 Honda Civic who I haven't done anything on since I got it 4 months ago it's about to hit 300,000 miles it's at 270, xx0. I don't know much about cars but what should I do besides an oil change? Get new spark plus? Should I buy other parts?
The major question is how long it has been since the timing belt was replaced. It is due every 90K miles.
You should have the timing belt changed, that is one thing that should not be ignored. Other service should include, checking the inlet and outlet valve gap. You suggest the spark plugs. If you are going to do them, make sure the engine is warmed up before you start. Change the air filter and if you do an oil change, buy a can of Engine flush, follow the instructions on the can. I use wynn's engine flush. Change the oil filter once the old oil is drained, I would recommend a good quality semi synthetic 10w 40 engine oil. Take the car to a garage and have the brake fluid replaced. Ask the mechanic to check the brake disc's thickness and check the brake disc pads.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
just keep doing regular maintenance like oil changes inspection of spark plugs cap and rotor and replace anything that gives signs of wear.Changing the fuel filter is a must if the filter doesn't look brand new or recentyl replaced.Same goes for timing belt and water pump
inspect vacuum hoses as well.

I want to upgrade my hondas SOHC 1.6 ltr engine with new pistons, crankshaft, camshaft, displacement, engine head, valves and springs, cam gears, connecting rods, fuel system, and a small stage 1 turbo but the engine has 300,000 miles in it. If i upgrade it anyway, will it make the engine newer, or will i have to replace it either way?
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
