My car battery died for leaving headlights on for about 50-60 minutes?
So I took my brother to practice and I left the headlights on for about an hour, when I got to my car I then realized the car wouldn't start, so my brothers coach comes and jump starts my car, so after that it took me about 20 minutes to get home, when I got home I turned the car off the car and after I turned it off I turned it on and it worked still so my question is will it work by tomorrow morning? I don't have any info on how old the battery is I just got the car this week but will it work by tomorrow?
Added (1). O and it is a used 2002 Honda CR-V
It would have been better to drive for 30 minutes at highway speeds to recharge the battery.
But you should be okay.
Start it up, turn off the lights and cabin fan. Let it run for say 25 minutes to charge the battery.
You should be OK.
Look on the battery, it may have service date marking. Maybe in the next week get it test at an auto parts store.
It depends on how old the battery is. A newer battery is much more likely to show no ill effects than a battery that is older and therefore weaker.
The best thing to do is to get up earlier tomorrow, start it up, and pray. If it starts like nothing happened, you're lucky, and you can pretty much forget about it. If it starts up with difficulty, or not at all, jump it to get to where you need to go, then buy a new one.
If nothing electrical was left on it should start tomorrow. Best to take it top a shop tomorrow and have the battery checked to avoid problems. Walmart will check it for free, and then advise you.
It will start. Sht happens sometimes. The drive home charged the battery. Slight possibility that the ordeal damaged a battery cell but it's unlikely. Ask your neighbor for a jump if it doesn't and take it to a corporate parts store to haveyour charging system checked for free.
A standard battery will fail after about 5 years. You should be close to the 3rd.
Hi it is a bit late to answer this now as it will or wilt start now.
When turning on ignition, see if battery warning light turns on before starting engine. Faults here could be the alternator.
You need a new battery. An hour with the headlights on will not kill a quality battery.
20 minutes running should have put enough charge on the battery to give you another start.
A half hour or so commute should get it fylly charged again.
