Added (1). My '03 Honda Hybrid had synthetic oil in it. Took it to my mechanic to check the brakes, and he thought the oil looked dirty (which the synthetic oil always does) and he changed the oil without asking me first. Now my Hybrid has regular oil in it, which I did not discover until after I drove it home from the mechanic's, checked it and it looks real clean, so I can tell the oil was changed. How serious is this, and is my engine damaged now, and what in the world should I do?

If you didn't approve the oil change, the shop manager needs to get the wrong oil out and put synthetic back in. Did he put in 0W-20? You need to find a real mechanic. I wouldn't go back to the guy with a toolbox that changed your oil based on visual analysis, I would question all of his education and abilities in repair of automobiles. The oil is ok if it's a 0W-20 or 5W-20, just have it changed at your convenience, anything else change it immediately.
Dude. I really don't believe this. A professional mechanic would of never done that. N you got proof that he used a non sythetic oil? Remove the oil n put in the right oil. Dude your engine going to catch fire
- Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil? I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?
