I really want a car with some more power, I'm getting rid of my hyundai elantra from 2002 which aren't fast to begin with but mine in particular was a dog. I'm talking 12 second 0-60 time here. Girlfriend has had a saturn v6 that is so much more fun to drive, and really made me want something with some kick but is still a sedan (no mustang, no camaro).
Doesn't need to be a sports car, and it's not a necessity but it would be AWESOME to have a car that ran 60 around 7 seconds or lower. I have been looking at buicks, but they just don't have much bite and aren't fun to drive.
So I find an older 2001 Caddy with 105,000 miles on it in a car with 2 owners and runs functional no red flags. My budget is around 4,500. Would I be crazy to take it? They want 3,200, and i see the blue book value is around 2,600. It concerns me that the value is so low. Is the maintenance crazy more expensive on a Caddy over a buick that it would make that big of a difference over the next few years?
Toyotas and Hondas are way out of budget (like 6,000 for a car with 180,000 miles on it, it's insane), and nothing else in my pricerange has much bite in the engine that I know of. If it's going to be drastic, I won't take it. But the 2001 model is before the fancy suspension was added, but after the head gasket northstar repairs. Any advice would be helpful.
