. Any old Honda wonks out there? Hello everybody, I may have been a bit vain about my perky little engine when it started missing and running rough. About two years ago I replaced all the sparkplug cables, and replaced the fuel filter, the spark plugs and some other stuff. It ran great until last week. This is an '87 Honda pgmFi, 2.0l single overhead cam 4cyl inline manifold fuel injected. Two days ago I did the test where you pull the spark plug cables one-by-one until it doesn't make any difference, and that's the cylinder that isn't doing anything. Well it was the #1 cylinder all the way over on the far right, plug wasn't fouled, but I replaced it anyway, (I also replaced the ancient distributor cap and rotor) Thought the new cable might be bad, Inline spark checker indicated it was getting spark, and the cable checked out at 4.2k ohms… Runs ragged at idle speed or on level ground below 2200rpm, but kicks in and runs on all four under even a little acceleration, driving up a hill, or rpms over 2750. My guess is that #1 injector is shooting a stream and not a mist, but a little timing advance (under acceleration) or more compression (up a hill) is enough to ignite even messy gas. All of the injectors are clacking the same way in time, and the inline spark checker seems okay for all plugs. I filled the tank with chevron 93 octane with the recommended amount of ***MORE***
Added (1). recommended amount of Seafoam for injector cleaning and moisture/ethanol concerns, and may replace the fuel filter again after this tank, (though it's only gone 22k miles.) Oh, when the system pressure comes up, the pgmfi light doesn't go out like it should (that's the precursor to the uninformative "check engine" light that everybody has these days)
Added (2). HI again, You ought to know that all the gear; cables from the ignition coil to the tip of the spark plugs is brand new, between four months to four days old. [on 10/3/19]This includes: All new cables from Autozone (4 months), new rotor, new cap(4 days old) 3 new spark plugs(4 months) 1 new spark plug (1 day old) new air filter (three weeks)
