My car is overheating and I can't find out why?

I bought an old 96 Honda Civic from a friend and it's been sitting for while. It's been started every month or two. He told me it runs and drives but overheats and he can't find out why. I've changed the thermostat and the radiator and after the car warms up for a bit it still overheats and coolant even boils in the overflow tank. Also white smoke comes from the exhaust manifold area.

Honda Civic LX 2001 Transmission

So today my car was pretty normal and everything was perfect in the morning once I drove it back home.
In the afternoon I left to go to a friends place not that far from me and stayed for a couple of hours once I drove back out to my house the car just suddenly revved up and my acceleration was decreasing so I pulled over to the side an had a family member tow me.

So my guess is that the transmission is finally done. Is this worth fixing? I know Honda civic parts are dirt cheap but what about the transmission? Also I was wondering if I could put a JDM transmission from in my car would it work? Here is the link: https://www.ebay.com/...3104309857

99 Honda Civic Misfiring Issue?

I have a 99 Honda Civic LX with over 200k miles. A few months ago I had new spark plugs and wires installed, and even more recently a new distributor cap. Currently the engine misfires a little on startup before it levels out and runs smoothly. After driving for a few minutes it will start to mildly misfire while idling, and worsens when I accelerate. Other times it is fine until I hit 50-55mph, at which point it strongly misfires. Revving the engine will make the misfiring stop until it downshifts. I tried some fuel injector cleaner with no luck. I'm leaning towards the igniter but would like to hear your opinions.

Did Barack Obama tell Honda they had to build better cars because they were building them too cheap a few years ago?

I heard on TV once a report that Barack Obama told Honda they had to build better cars because the quality was just too cheap. Better or they would not be allowed to sell here in the US. Or maybe I heard wrong and he said they had to get better gas mileage. But I think it was about cheap quality and ripping people off. The reason I ask is because when he said this I went outside and took a look at my moms brand new Honda civic and the quality in fact did look cheap, the inside especially, it looked like flimsy recycled plastic.
