My car turns over properly but the engine races and won't shift gears?

I have a 2003 Honda CR-V with about 182,000 miles on it. Has been driving perfect until last night when I turned it on and the engine was racing like I was accelerating and I was unable to shift gears. What could be causing this and what kind of repair bill could I be looking at?

How much would my insurance be?

I'm 16, so I'm a new driver. I'm looking for a small suv such as 2002 Honda CR-V or something else. I'd like to know at least a guess how much I'd be paying.

What do you call that square metal that protrudes in Honda CRV underside?

My uncle has a Honda CRV and It is always a bummer, also a photo bummer seeing that metal that is visible when looking at the front of the car. My uncle sometimes go on harsh roads on it and most of the time it catches some twigs, brushes vines, even have few dents after hitting some rocks… I mean what is that? I know does something to its suspension but come on it kinda ugly to look at especially its usually the first thing people will notice.

Why would my new car key only works in ignition?

I have a 2005 Honda CRV and I just got an aftermarket key fob for it. I transferred the contents of the original fob over to the new one and then got the blank key laser cut at the dealer. The remote portion works perfectly fine. However, the key won't work in the doors or glove box.

Initially, the key wasn't working properly in the ignition either. It would catch a lot in the cylinder and wasn't smooth. After about 15-30 times of taking the key in and out of the ignition the key became smooth and fluid. Now it works fine in the ignition and starts the car without problem.

When I try to put the key in the door it doesn't go in smoothly and won't open the lock.

How do I make it work? Could it just be that the key is new and still sharply cut?
Maybe if I use it for a bit it will start working smoothly like the ignition? I'm assuming the key is rough in the door because the cylinders in them rarely get used (because I use the keyless entry)

What do you think?

Upgrading engine in 1999 Honda CR-V?

Alright… I have a 1999 Honda CR-V and it's decked out. It's got fog lights, roof racks, shovel and pickaxe racks, black wheels, the whole shabang. The problem: UNDERPOWERED.

I don't understand why they didn't make a V6 model for this car. 4cyl is just not enough for an SUV. SO. What can I do to boost power without damaging the engine? Thoughts on adding a turbo? What else would be good on a 4 cylinder? I'm more familiar with diesel vehicles, so I don't quite know what to add…

Any opinions appreciated! Thanks.

PS. The reason I need more power is… When a car takes 20 or more seconds to get to highway speed.there's a problem. It even becomes a hazard because the ramp for a highway is not that long, and you block traffic getting on. It's quite annoying. And I know it's not just my CR-V, I've driven others and owned others. They are just simply underpowered. I don't want to buy a new car because I've invested so much in this one… But I need something more capable of getting up to speed.

Why is my oil level going down so quickly?

I have a 2006 Honda crv with about 84k. I have been noticing that it is seeming to go through oil rather quickly. I replace it every 3k. I really don't think there's a leak, but I'm not a mechanic. Just troubleshooting maybe?

Why is the dealer charging me for my raflle prize?

I won a 2014 Honda CR-V LX 2 wheel drive in a raffle. I live in NY I'm aware of the tax, tag and tile fees, but the Honda dealer is stating that they 2 wheel drives are not sold on the east coast in NY due to the weather conditions.

Per the dealer in order to redeem my prize I must pay an additonal $1020 to upgrade to an all wheel drive. As the dealer put it the school I bought the raffle from just put a "down payment" of $22,700. The dealer is trying to get me to finance the tax, tag, title and registration and upgrade. Is this usual and customary?

Can I do a manual transmission swap on a 1999 awd Honda cr v?

A buddy of mine blew up the engine in his 1999 hona crv awd and hes gonna sell it for 500, so my question is
If you had a 1999 automatic awd cr v can you swap a standard transmission?
I know you would have to like drill a hole in the dash but would it work?
And how much would it cost for a manual transmission and a new engine to be put on a AWD cr v
Looking to spend about $1500 on parts
