A mechanic came to fix a tenant's generator, which my 7-8months old Honda generator [accessible to the mechanic as both generators are kept in the same place] was still working fine at the time and still is after this incident. The mechanic left earlier in the day and I went to start my Honda generator later that same day only to discover that my engine had completely lost compression. After several attempts to start the generator [about 8-10 attempts], the generator finally started with a large burst of smoke. I let the engine run for about a minute or two and all the smoke dissipated, then I turned it off. Now, it starts immediately with only one pull [attempt] just the way it is supposed to be, just as it was before the mechanic came by. Till this moment, it still starts on one pull [attempt] and it does not smoke. Basically, it has regained its compression without any repair done on it. I'm convinced that the mechanic tampered with my generator, I just want to know what exactly he could have done to it.
