What can solve the problem to a Recurring Check Engine Light for 2001 Honda Accord EX?
The specifics are that the light has been on for a few months starting in June of 2014. Went to nearly every mechanic in union county and even went to a Honda dealer. They would check the light and say that it is either uptream air fuel ratio sensor and downstream o2 sensor. I changed them both numerous times accounting to about $800.00 worth of sensors. Also got the catalytic converter checked and it is said to be good. Only 1 out of 7 mechanics said that it needed to be changed. (Meineke and many trustworthy mechanics claim that the catalytic converter is good) Went to Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts but neither is helpful. Autozone suggested to remove the battery and reset the computer, after every visit to a mechanic and even some at home diagnosis has lead to resetting the battery but the check engine light would come on soon after. Problem was solved on 07/27/2014 when a simple hose was shortened, light was off and remained off for about 70 hours until it came back on today 07/29/2014. Since the sensors are not at fault and the cat is still good, I need help solving this problem without resetting the computer even more, the more i reset the computer the more it will be unready for inspection. What can solve this problem? I suspect that it is a simple gas cap leak but i put and retightened the gas cap but the light is still on, What Else is there to do?
