Now, I understand when someone gets a sedan, a pick-up truck or a station wagon. These are utility vehicles and it makes perfect sense to buy such type of vehicles.
But I didn't understand a thing when a friend of mine bought a Fiat 500 Abarth as a 'weekend fun car' (He already owns a Honda Accord).
If I was him; I'd have gone with a… MOTORCYCLE!
Ducati Monster 821 Roadster: 3.6sec 0-60, 11.5sec 1/4 Mile @ $11,500 MSRP.
Fiat 500 Abarth: 6.3sec 0-60, 14.8sec 1/4Mile @ $21,000 MSRP.
And to put things into perspective:
Audi TT RS: 3.4sec 0-60, 13.2sec 1/4 Mile @ $66,000 MSRP
The Abarth is more compareable to:
Kawasaki Ninja 300: 5.6sec 0-60, 14.61sec 1/4 Mile @ $4,000 MSRP.
Not only that but bikes are more agile and are just a BLAST to ride; and here's why:
On a bike:
Your right hand's palm is throttle; fingers are front brakes and thumbs are low-high beam.
Your left hand's fingers are clutch and thumb controls the horn & indicator etc.
Your right foot is the rear brake.
Your left foot is the gearbox.
Your arms steer at low speeds.
Your whole body steer at high speeds.
So… YOU'RE ALL OVER IT!
And that gives you a feeling like no other! It's the best way if you want to 'feel' the machine. I can feel EVERYTHING on the bike. The engine, the wheels, the road, the wind, the world…
There's a reason us riders invented the term 'but dyno'! Our behinds can tell how many HP the engine beneath us makes!
So…
My question is; WHY?
