What's the point of getting a bigger cc bike?

I was planning to get a Honda CB400 super 4 when I get my mid tier license. Its a commuter bike with a somewhat sporty engine. 399cc & 190km/h max speed. The fun starts when the Vtec kicks in at abt 6500rpm.

Now I was planning a to get a Honda CBR600rr or CBR1000rr sportsbike when I upgrade my license to open category in future. Thats the dream. But very sadly I learnt they are not pillion friendly. The tourers/sports tourers eg Goldwing or VFR1200 are just too big relative to my physical size & beyond my budget. The VFR800x doesn't look attractive enough. So that leaves me with the NC700 a twin 700cc engine which has similar power output & topspeed with the super 4. In any case i've seen videos of a sprint race betn the super 4 & the NC700 & the super 4 wins hands down. I'm not so concerned about top speed ( which street on the planet allows you that privilage other than the track?) but acceleration is important to me. Moreover twins sound horrible!

So in my case it just doesn't make any sense to get the NC700 - paying more $$ for the bike & more expensive insurance when its performance is the same as a 400cc bike.

So I think i would just go for the open category license but stick to the super 4. What do you think?

Used 07 Honda XR650L Dual Sport worth 4 grand?

I found a used dual XR650L Dual Sport bike for 3999. It's from a dealer so I trust the dealer more that it isn't all messed up than if I would buy it from a random dude on the street.

Air-cooled, dry-sump, 1-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve RFVC, 12,146 mi., 324 lbs

Lowered with ball bearing. Slip-on pipe. Uni air mod filter. 4.7 gas tank. Current registration. Clean title.

Worth 4 grand? I'm going to try and go in and buy it with cash on the spot, so should there be some wiggle room to get a better deal?

(first time buyer by the way. Looking to ride mostly on asphalt for work for 30 minutes a day, and in the mountainside dirt trails every week or so. Will use the freeway every once in awhile. Looking for best deal, bike is going to be my starter.)

Can I use a different nut for my motorcycle exhaust?

I have Vance and Hines pipes on my honda shadow and a nut came loose and fell off somewhere. Can I put any type of nut on there as long as the threads are the same or does it have to be the exact kind that came off because the kind that came of was a cap nut that prevents over torque.

Buying a used motorcycle from florida in california?

I'm trying to buy a used 1998 honda. But i'm a bit confused on the emissions part?

"The Bottom Line

If you are a California resident and acquire a new car, truck, or motorcycle from another state, it must be certified to meet California smog laws to be registered in California. This includes certain diesel-powered vehicles. DMV can't accept an application to register a vehicle in California that does not qualify for registration (California Health and Safety Code - 43156).

What Is Considered a New Vehicle?

California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business, to be a new vehicle. This is true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state.

Check the Label

To find out whether a car, truck, or motorcycle is California certified, check the emission label under the hood. For a motorcycle, check the frame or refer to your owner' s manual for the location. The label should read that the vehicle conforms to California regulations, or that it is legal for sale in California."

Does this only apply to motorcycles that are new?

so if i bought a used one 1998 motorcycle from florida that had over 20K miles would this make it exempt?

and what forms would i need to finish this transfer?
http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg343.pdf
that and a bill of sale? With the title before i take it to the dmv?

Bikes for petite beginners?

I'm 18 and am looking to get a motorcycle. I'm like 7 and a half stone and I'm only 5'1, I've been looking for a while and I know it's best to start out with a 125cc I've been looking at the Honda CBR. Quite recommended for beginners and I've also looked at Kawasaki Ninja 250 due to the weight of it. I know you can lower seats but I was just wondering if there's any others I should look at. I'm planning on learning before I make any big decision and I will start out on most probably the Honda which is Learner Legal. I'll also be going for a bike safety course so that's not something to be worrie

Opinion on riding i moped in college?

I live in okinawa and next year ill be going back to the united states for college and I'm thinking about sending over my honda ruckus with me. I can't bring my self to selling it though because I've put so much work onto it. I don't even know the moped/scooter laws in Oklahoma but i refuse to sell this scooter.

My thing is how safe would it be riding a moped? In okinawa its a common thing to ride around but I don't think anybody rides them in the US, my scooter isn't slow its 125cc and can hit about 60mph on a flat road. I know i probably sound weird but i probably won't be getting a car so this is all i have… Just to get me through college at least. How do you think i will be, will it be safe.
